| Some
information about the Driving Test |
|
Make sure you have both
parts of your PROVISIONAL LICENCE (paper and plastic)
and your THEORY PASS
CERTIFICATE - or you won't be able to go out on your test.
IMPORTANT - If you get 6 points in the first 2 years of
passing you will loose your full licence and have to take
both your Theory and Driving Test again - this happens
to over 1200 people every month!

The Test Fee is £62

After signing your test
sheet the examiner will try to help you relax by making
some casual conversation - things like "My name is
Tom Hawk, what shall I call you?" - then possibly
- "Have you had time off work for the test?..."
After this an eyesight check.
You will be asked two random vehicle safety check questions.
If you get one or both wrong you won't fail - but you
will get one minor fault. One question will be a 'Show
Me' - something like "How you would check the indicators
are working properly?" and "Tell Me" -
"How you'd check the brakes are working before a
journey?" You may have a question where you'll have
to lift the bonnet and explain where you'd check the oil
and make sure it's got enough.
The test normally lasts about 40 minutes. You will do
two manoeuvres - the emergency stop is only done in one
out of three tests.
The maximum number of minor mistakes is 15 but just one
serious fault will mean you won't pass (ie fail!)
IMPORTANT - when you drive you need to show that you are
confident and give the 'feel' of an experienced driver.
Being over cautious is not good and comes across as lacking
confidence - it can be a tough one... |
